What to Sip on for the holidays
Help me lord. Are we really a few days away from Christmas!? I have to be honest with yall, I’ve done ZERO shopping. Yes, ZERO! I have no clue what anyone is getting. Hugs maybe? That’s always an option, right? On top of not knowing what I’m buying anyone, I have no clue what’s for Christmas dinner. Am I the only one out here hanging on by a thread? I just feel like this season came so fast. I swear I'm going to start Christmas shopping in January from now on. Despite not knowing what I’m getting anyone or feeding anyone for that matter. I do know what holiday drinks I want to serve. Stop shaking your head at me.
I like to fall down the Pinterest rabbit hole at night when everyone is sleeping. Y'all I'm a pining master. Inspirational quotes, home decor, budget fashion. Yall better not sleep on my pinterest boards. So one night I started looking at cute holiday drinks and found so many I wanted to try. Since my mom will be in town I thought it would be nice to do a yummy signature drink or two while her husband, I mean I cook. So here are few recipes I found.
Cranberry Fizz Mocktail
This first recipe I found on https://glaminati.com Yes, I know its a Mocktail. I thought it would be cute for the kids. You can definitely add your favorite Vodka to this if the spirit moves you.
Ingredients
3 ounces of sparkling cider or ginger ale
3 ounces of cranapple juice
splash of lemon or lime juice
3 tablespoon of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon completely blended
Instructions
Rub a lemon or lime around the rim of your glass and then dip into the sugar/cinnamon mix. Fill the glass with ice. Add then cranapple. Add a splash of fresh juice of lemon or lime. Top off with sparkling cider or ginger ale.
Peppermint Patty Cocktail
I can see myself sipping on this adult hot chocolate on Christmas Eve when the kids are asleep. This recipe was found on www.lifesambrosia.com
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups milk
1/2 cup hot chocolate mix
1/4 cup peppermint schnapps, plus more as needed
1/4 cup creme de cacao
whipped cream
Sprinkles
In a saucepan heat 2 cups of milk over medium heat, just until steamy. About 5 minutes.
Once milk starts to steam whisk in hot chocolate mix. Continue cooking 2-3 minutes or until hot chocolate is desired temperature. Do not boil.
Remove from heat and whisk in 1/4 cup of peppermint schnapps and creme de cacao. Taste. If desired, add more schnapps.
Ladle mixture into glasses, top with whipped cream and sprinkles.
This next cocktail caught my eye because of the cute name. But when I started to read the ingredients, I immediately wanted to make this. Found at homemadehooplah.com
JACK FROST COCKTAIL
1 tbsp light corn syrup or simple syrup
1/3 cup shredded coconut for garnish
3 cup ice for a thicker drink, use 4 cups
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup vodka or light rum
1/2 cup Blue Curacao
1/2 cup cream of coconut (not coconut milk)
Instructions
On a small plate, add shredded coconut. Wet the rim of a glass with simple syrup (can also use simple syrup, but it won't hold the coconut as well) and gently dab the top the glass in the shredded coconut, coating the rim. Set glass aside.
Add ice, pineapple juice, vodka, blue curacao, and cream of coconut to a food processor. Pulse until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
Pour Jack Frost Winter Cocktail into prepared glasses.
Serve immediately.
